Plant Pro-Tec UNITS must be activated before they are clipped to your plants or fences. The barrier that contains the garlic odor during storage and transport must be broken to release the repelling odor. This barrier is broken with an Odor Release Probe which is included in every bag of Plant Pro-Tec UNITS. This product must be used according to the situation. Plant Pro-Tec UNITS can be used to protect individual plants and/or to create a perimeter around a flower bed or yard. UNITS should be clipped 2 to 3 feet above the ground for deer and 6 to 8 inches above the ground for rabbits. The number of UNITS needed to protect a plant or area depends on how severe the deer or rabbit problem is! Generally, if there are a lot of animals, if the animals have a habit of damaging your plants, and if they really like what you are trying to protect, more Plant Pro-Tec UNITS or whatever repellent will be needed to protect the plant or area. To protect a plant like a rose bush that deer really love, it may be necessary to put 3 or 4 UNITS on that one bush. Don't let this scare you! Remember, we are talking about a whole season of protection with only one application. On the most vulnerable side of a perimeter, UNITS may be required every 3 to 4 feet.

'Rules Of Thumb' for using Plant Pro-Tec UNITS:

Install Plant Pro-Tec UNITS before damage starts - it is a lot easier to prevent damage than to stop it once it starts!

Put more UNITS on plants or in areas where damage has occurred in the past.

Put more UNITS on plants that deer and/or rabbits love than on other plants.

Keep some UNITS in reserve - if more damage occurs, install more UNITS until damage stops. If you break the habit this year, you will probably need about one-half as many UNITS next year! The shelf life of a Plant Pro-Tec UNIT is one or more years. If you do not need all the Plant Pro-Tec UNITS this year, they will still be effective next year.

Install UNITS anytime of the year. A UNIT installed in the fall should be effective through the next growing season. UNITS installed in the spring will be effective through the growing season.

Storage: Store only in the original container in a cool, dry place inaccessible to children or pets. Store Plant Pro-Tec (Garlic) UNITS out of direct sunlight, preferably at temperatures from 30º F to 90º F. Under these storage conditions, shelf life of unactivated UNITS should be one or more years.

Disposal: Securely wrap used or unused UNITS in newspaper and discard in trash.
